The Iowa Cubs converted a terrific effort from starter Bob Gibson into a win over the Salt Lake Bees at Principal Park. The Cubs won the game by a final score of 2-1. Ed Jones earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. The Cubs improved their record to 19-20 by beating Salt Lake.

Had Daniel Guerrero not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Guerrero hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Cubs.

"We found a way to get it done," Guerrero said.
