Bees Win Squeaker, 2-1, Over Express
|
Salt Lake pitcher Octávio Rangel had a large part in his team subduing the Round Rock Express, 2-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Salt Lake reliever Dave Jones, now 1-0. The loser was Mike Miller. With the win, the Bees sit at 24-17.
The Bees were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 22-year old first baseman Jesús Milanes landed a big blow. He turned a 1-0 curveball from Mike Miller into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Smith's Ballpark denizens into a frenzy and sent the Bees home with a thrilling 2-1 win.
"Octávio is good at sticking to his strengths," said Salt Lake manager Tom Prince.
