Omaha Absorbs 7-4 Loss to El Paso
|
El Paso Chihuahuas starter Walker Lockett pitched a strong game against the Omaha Storm Chasers at Werner Park, leading the Chihuahuas to victory, 7-4. Lockett picked up the win for El Paso, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 6-0. Michel Deodato, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old center fielder Jesús Gutiérrez. Gutiérrez had a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Chihuahuas ahead, 6-1. For the game, Gutiérrez had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Walker -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Chihuahuas manager Andy Hayes. "He was the key to us winning."
After today's action, El Paso sits at 28-13; Omaha slips to 23-18.
