The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Iowa fans at Principal Park.

The Iowa Cubs topped the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 8-1, at Principal Park. Iowa designated hitter Bob Wilcox was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Tim Hamilton picked up the win in relief for Iowa, while Chris Metcalf took the loss.

Kevin Turner had a big 2-run double for the Cubs in the bottom of the first inning. With Iowa leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Metcalf and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cubs ahead, 3-0.

"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Wilcox said (again).

Iowa has now won 4 straight.
