Behind the hitting of Jim Rivers, the Fresno Grizzlies stopped the Iowa Cubs, 11-2. Rivers went 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs for the Grizzlies. With the win, the Grizzlies sit at 24-19.

The Cubs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Grizzlies going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old left fielder Josh Burkett came to the plate. Burkett hit a 2-run home run on a 1-2 curveball from Iowa hurler Chris McCarthy. It was Burkett's 4th home run of the year.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Fresno manager Kevin Cash.
