Enthusiastic fans came out to support the home team at Raley Field.

Starting pitcher Bob Carter was a major factor in the 5-1 Sacramento River Cats triumph over the El Paso Chihuahuas. Carter yielded no runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 4-2. Jimmy Hoover earned save number 1.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the second inning, but Carter was able to pitch out of a jam. With the bases loaded and El Paso trailing 2-0, Carter retired Darrel Nijland, who grounded out.

With the win, Sacramento pushed its record to 31-20.
