Salt Lake third baseman Ken Smith was a significant contributor in his team's 7-3 triumph over the Tacoma Rainiers. He went 2-4 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Bees. The win went to Curt Watson in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Artie Moore took the loss. Salt Lake is now 20-32, while Tacoma is 20-32.

Smith had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Artie Moore, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Bees a 5-3 lead. It was the 10th double of the year for Smith.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Smith said.
