El Paso got a strong outing from Don Hill as the Chihuahuas defeated the Fresno Grizzlies, 8-1, at . The first-place Chihuahuas have won 5 consecutive games.

Curt Ratzlaff had a big 2-run home run for the Chihuahuas in the bottom of the third inning. With El Paso leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Jim Richmond, who is tied for 8th in the PC in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Chihuahuas on top, 3-0.
