51s Prevail, 6-5, Over Tacoma
|
Tacoma left fielder Don Desjardins had a good game, even if his team did not. The Rainiers dropped a 6-5 decision to Las Vegas at Cheney Stadium. Desjardins was 3-4 with 3 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Mata. He tossed 100 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. Las Vegas raised its record to 31-23 with the win.
Las Vegas used the hitting of Juan Rodríguez to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the 51s on top, 5-3. For the game, Rodríguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Las Vegas manager Nelson Paulino.
