River Cats Win at Home, 8-4
|
The Sacramento River Cats picked up a win at Raley Field, taking down the El Paso Chihuahuas, 8-4. Starting pitcher Don Parker was a big reason why. Jean-Louis Huard, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. The win elevated the River Cats to 31-25.
Had Robert Mullen not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mullen hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the River Cats.
"Don was really on it," said Sacramento manager Carlos Corporan. "He's got a feel for playing with the hitter front-to-back, side-to-side."
