The Las Vegas 51s topped the Reno Aces, 1-0, in Pacific Conference action at Cashman Field. The standout performance belonged to Las Vegas pitcher and Springfield, Oregon, native P.J. Burton. The winner was Burton. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Holden Helmink. The 51s now have a record of 28-31.

With scoring opportunities rare, the 51s had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when left fielder Walt Cook hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Holden Helmink and made the score 1-0, 51s. Cook was 2-3 with a double.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Reno manager Ruben Niebla.
