Behind a solid performance from center fielder Bob Henderson, the Iowa Cubs defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes, 9-3. Henderson went 3 for 5 with 3 doubles. He scored 3 times for the Cubs. With the win, Iowa has a record of 30-35. Albuquerque falls to 30-34.

Bob Smith had a big run-scoring double for the Cubs in the bottom of the second inning. With Iowa leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a knuckle curve from Loren Workman and swatted a double to left. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cubs ahead, 2-0.
