Elvis Metcalf, who is tied for 4th in the AC in innings pitched with 84.2, was locked in. The left-hander led the Memphis Redbirds to a 5-3 win against the Nashville Sounds at AutoZone Park. Metcalf, the winner, moves to 2-11. He threw 8.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 5 walks. Dave Richardson picked up his 3rd save of the season.

Jonathan Webb had a big bases-clearing double for the Redbirds in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Memphis leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Micah Miniard, who is tied for 8th in the AC in wins with 5, and swatted a double to center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Redbirds ahead, 4-0.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Nashville manager Steve Scarsone. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."

The triumph makes Memphis 16-48.
