Rock Cats Suffer One-Run Loss at Portland
|
Starting pitcher António González was a major factor in the 3-2 Portland Sea Dogs triumph over the New Britain Rock Cats. Picking up his 3rd save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Lavington. The Sea Dogs, now 5-2, have been playing some good baseball.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Sea Dogs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when third baseman José Puente hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Ron Barr and made the score 3-2, Sea Dogs. Puente went 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
Puente called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
