Memphis Wins, 6-4, in Extra Innings
|
The Memphis Redbirds besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Albuquerque right fielder Tim Stevenson by beating the Isotopes, 6-4, at Isotopes Park. Stevenson went 3-7 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Memphis reliever Joe Cameron was the winner. His record is now 3-4. Geoffrey Lindsey took the loss. Dave Steward earned the save, his 1st, for the Redbirds.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Al Davis? The 25-year old first baseman Davis stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th inning to put Memphis up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
Memphis manager Garey Ingram commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
Memphis, now 32-42, holds down last place in the American Conference North Division.
