The Albuquerque Isotopes defeated the Memphis Redbirds, 8-7, at AutoZone Park. Albuquerque was led by 26-year old second baseman Dave Ford, who went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Albuquerque reliever Gene Blevins, now 1-0. The loser was Andy Boone. With the win, the Isotopes hiked their record to 38-36.

Albuquerque used the timely hitting of Steve Eggert to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Isotopes on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It feels good to get this one," Ford told the Albuquerque Herald.
