New Britain Tacks 1-0 Loss on Akron
The Akron RubberDucks inaugurated their 2026 season with a tough 1-0 loss to the New Britain Rock Cats at Canal Park. Reliever Steve Nelson had perhaps the best performance for New Britain. The winner was Nelson. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Tim Garnham. Kel Clark sewed up the save, his 1st.

The Rock Cats got a big at-bat from designated hitter Mike Taylor. For the game, Taylor went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the top of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave New Britain a 1-0 lead.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Taylor, "and then get after the next one."
