Las Vegas pitcher Jeff McCray had a large part in his team beating the New Orleans Zephyrs, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Kevin Myers earned save number 1 this season. With the win, the 51s improved to 51-54.

Las Vegas used the timely hitting of Ken Lawson to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the 51s on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Las Vegas manager Nelson Paulino said.
