Fresno pitcher Don Dillon had a large part in his team beating the Omaha Storm Chasers, 7-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The first-place Grizzlies, at 61-47, now lead their division by 9 games.

Ed Simmons had a big solo home run for the Grizzlies in the bottom of the third inning. With Fresno leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from former first round draft pick Duane Bradley and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Grizzlies on top, 3-1.

Simmons told the Fresno Herald: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
