The Red Sox faced a stiff challenge from Toledo pitcher Spike Kimball, but persevered to claim a win at McCoy Stadium. The final score was 1-0. Kimball went 7.2 innings and allowed no runs. Toledo, with the loss, is still a hardy 10-4.

The Red Sox got a clutch hit from center fielder Rob Thompson. In the bottom of the ninth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Red Sox.

"It was a solid team effort," said Thompson after the game.
