Norfolk beat Lehigh Valley in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Norfolk turned a good performance from starting pitcher Al Rucker into a 2-0 triumph over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Harbor Park. Rucker got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs.

The Tides got a big at-bat from first baseman Don Dotson. For the game, Dotson went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Norfolk a 1-0 lead.

"I just try to put up zeroes," said Rucker, "and let the rest take care of itself."

The defeat makes the IronPigs 6-9.
