The Tacoma Rainiers topped the Reno Aces by a score of 7-5. Leading the way was left fielder Bobby Howell. Howell went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Rainiers. The win went to Doug Bannatyne in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Don Forrest took the loss. Wes Poe was credited with the save, his 6th in 7 tries.

Travis Nelligan provided a timely hit. The Tacoma second baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rainiers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Howell. "I think we showed that here."

The Rainiers now have a record of 70-71 with the win over Reno.
