Fightin Phils Get Hard-Earned Win
The Akron RubberDucks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jesús Martínez into a win. Instead, the Reading Fightin Phils prevailed, 6-5. Martínez threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Reading reliever Tony Smith picked up the win to move to 3-1. Lúcio Rivera suffered the loss. The third-place Fightin Phils have won 5 in a row.

Yairo Munoz was the walk-off hero for Reading. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Fightin Phils first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
