Red Sox Clip Chiefs in Tight Contest, 3-1
|
The Pawtucket Red Sox took Syracuse pitcher Ismael García's best shot and still were able to claim a win at McCoy Stadium. The final score had Pawtucket getting past the Chiefs, 3-1. García went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. The winner in relief was Sam Bell. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-2. Duane Underwood notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Pawtucket took a 3-1 lead on Bo Dawson's 15th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Dawson hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Syracuse pitcher Alejandro Viloria visibly frustrated.
"I thought we competed really well," said Red Sox manager Wes Timmons. "I thought the energy was really good."
Pawtucket is 39-33 and Syracuse, with the loss, 31-41.
