Joe Dyer was outstanding against Norfolk. The left-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the IL in saves with 14, had a curveball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Knights 3-1 win. The save was credited to Monte Young, his 4th. The loss makes Norfolk 27-45.

Dyer, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 9 in 8 innings and gave up 1 run.

Dyer, who is tied for 2nd in the IL in saves with 14, moves to 6-2 on the year with 68 strikeouts.

"Joe's as tough as he is talented," said Charlotte manager Jason Boyd.
