In a low-scoring contest between the Norfolk Tides and the Columbus Clippers, Greg Bane was the X factor. The Norfolk right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Bane, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. The triumph puts Norfolk at 45-33 for the season.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Vic Sutton? The former first round draft pick Sutton stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Norfolk up, 3-0. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Greg was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Norfolk manager Charlie Poe.
