Bailey goes 3-for-4, Firebirds Move to 55-36
|
The Gwinnett Firebirds topped the Norfolk Tides, 5-2, with youngster Artie Bailey playing a key role. Bailey went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Firebirds in the win. Gwinnett pitcher Oscar Willis got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Al Rucker got the loss. With the win, the Firebirds hiked their record to 55-36.
Bailey contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Gwinnett in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Bailey took a fastball from Al Rucker and stroked the home run to left. His 16th home run of the season allowed the Firebirds to leap in front, 4-2.
Bailey attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
