Buffalo got a strong outing from Pedro Fernandez as the Bisons defeated the Toledo Mud Hens, 6-2, at Fifth Third Field. Fernandez, the winner, moves to 5-7. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up no walks. Jesús Ortíz earned the save, his 2nd.

Buffalo used a clutch at-bat from Alan Jones to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bisons ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Jones.

The Bisons improved their record to 51-56 by beating Toledo.
