The Louisville Bats beat the Columbus Clippers, 5-3. Louisville pitcher and Cascade-Fairwood, Washington, native Chad Johnson led the way. The win went to Joel York in relief, making him now 7-2. Jesus A. Sanchez took the loss for Columbus. Carlos Contreras recorded the save, his 19th.

Juan Bello came through with a big-time hit for Louisville. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Bello called the win "a lesson in teamwork."

The defeat makes Columbus 66-45.
