Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Pawtucket Red Sox and Buffalo Bisons.

Pierce Johnson pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Buffalo Bisons, despite Johnson's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium. Dave Lavington earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-7. Augusto García earned his 3rd save in 3 chances.

The Red Sox beat the Bisons in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Luis Sánchez produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Pierce Johnson, Sánchez gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Mark Budzinski.

The losing streak for Buffalo has now reached 4 games.
