The Columbus Clippers used a great performance from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Sandy Cline to beat the Charlotte Knights, 1-0, at Huntington Park. Cline got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed no runs. The loss makes the Knights 8-13.

The Clippers got a big boost from second baseman Ron Walker who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Knights hurler Phil Childress. It was his 17th RBI of the season and put Columbus on top, 1-0.

"Sandy was dictating to their hitters," said Columbus manager Carlos Garcia.
