The umbrellas came out during the Syracuse-Durham contest at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

The Syracuse Chiefs had to overcome a fine effort from Durham pitcher Brit Johnson to win, 4-3, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Johnson went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Al Adams picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Hugh Taylor suffered the loss.

The Chiefs beat the Bulls in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Erik Watkins produced in the top of the eighth. Batting against Cisco Domínguez, Watkins gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a run-scoring single.

Watkins told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."

Syracuse is now 56-70, Durham 50-76.
