RubberDucks Lose to Sea Dogs, 5-4
|
Portland and Akron took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Getting a good performance from center fielder Carlos Parkinson, the Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 5-4. Parkinson was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Sea Dogs. Dan Bell got the win, improving to 6-3. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Ken Patrick got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Early in the game, Parkinson had a 3-run home run for Portland. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Sea Dogs on top, 3-0.
"Both teams played hard," said Portland manager Stu Cole.
Portland is now 37-23, while Akron is 36-23.
