Mets Handed 3-2 Loss by Reading
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Reading Fightin Phils eventually prevailed.
The Reading Fightin Phils trumped the Binghamton Mets, 3-2, at FirstEnergy Stadium. Reading first baseman Bob Enders was terrific. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Tim Moon earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-0.
Enders had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-1 fastball from Pat Hill, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Fightin Phils a 3-2 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Enders.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Binghamton manager Lee Tinsley said, following the tough loss.
Reading is now 28-33, Binghamton 26-35.
