Flying Squirrels Drop Sea Dogs, 3-2

Portland got a decent performance from pitcher Raúl Lópes, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Richmond won the Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium contest, 3-2. Lópes threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Richmond starter Joe Barker was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-2. Pete Bryan notched his 10th save in 11 chances.
Leonardo Pagán, who is tied for 8th in the EL in triples with 3, helped out the Richmond cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.
Pagán told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
After today's action, Richmond sits at 32-32, while Portland falls to 39-25.
