|
Gwinnett parlayed a decent outing from starter Dave Green into a solid win over the Durham Bulls. The final score was 4-3. In 8 innings, Green surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Earning his 5th save of the year was Tynan Ford.
Gwinnett used the timely hitting of Greg Olsen to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Firebirds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Dave is still learning," said Firebirds manager Jason Bourgeois. "The sky's the limit for him."
The Bulls, now 7-18, continue their sluggish start.
