Portland Slaps 2-0 Loss on Richmond
|
In a tight tilt between Portland and Richmond, pitcher Kevin Fitzpatrick was a key contributor. The right-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 2-0 Sea Dogs win. Augusto García was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 18 save opportunities. With this game in the books, Portland is 40-26, Richmond 33-33.
Portland used the timely hitting of Nelson Martínez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sea Dogs on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Richmond manager Mike Sarbaugh. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
