Altoona Downs Richmond, 7-5
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Altoona and Richmond from playing their scheduled game.
Luis Lozano did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Richmond Flying Squirrels from being beaten, 7-5, to the Altoona Curve at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Lozano went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. José Pérez claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. His record stands at 1-0.
Center Fielder Djoka Uskokovic made an impact for Altoona, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Manny Pérez in the top of the fifth. For the contest, Uskokovic was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Altoona manager David Ortiz.
The Curve, at 33-34, inhabit third place in the Southern Division.
