In 11, New Britain Sinks Akron, 5-4
The Akron RubberDucks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Michel Deodato into a win. Instead, the New Britain Rock Cats prevailed, 5-4, in 11 innings. Deodato threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The win was credited to Robby Schmitt in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Alfredo Moreno took the loss. The win gives New Britain a season record of 46-24.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 11th for New Britain. That's when 26-year old third baseman Bob Perkins hit a run-scoring double off Alfredo Moreno to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"We had the eye of a tiger tonight," said winning manager Gary Kendall.
