Fightin Phils Suffer 7-2 Loss to New Hampshire
|
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Reading Fightin Phils, 7-2, in Eastern League action at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of New Hampshire pitcher Joel Vallance. In 7.1 innings, Vallance surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. With the victory, the Fisher Cats upped their record to 40-34.
Hugo Perales had a big 2-run double for the Fisher Cats in the bottom of the third inning. With New Hampshire leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Dave Blackburn, who leads the EL in quality starts with 13, and swatted a double to left. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Fisher Cats ahead, 5-1.
"I still think this team can play even better," Vallance told the New Hampshire Daily.
