The Altoona Curve defeated the Bowie Baysox, 4-3, in Eastern League action at People's Natural Gas Field. Altoona pitcher Spike Cummings had a standout performance. Stan Martínez picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-6. Geoff Stewart suffered the loss. Altoona now sits at 37-42, while Bowie falls to 36-43.

Manny Gutiérrez drove in one run for Altoona. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Gutiérrez had a clutch at-bat. Facing Bowie hurler Geoff Stewart, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Curve a 4-3 lead.

"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Curve manager David Ortiz.
