The Erie SeaWolves did just enough to sneak past the Binghamton Mets, 2-1, at Jerry Uht Park. Erie pitcher Greg Carr, in particular, had a standout performance. Erie reliever Josh Hamilton picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Joe Collins absorbed the loss. José Hernández earned the save, his 2nd, for the SeaWolves.
The Mets had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the SeaWolves going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop José Navarro came to the plate. Navarro hit a run-scoring double on a 0-2 forkball from Binghamton hurler Joe Collins. It was Navarro's 6th double of the year.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Carr.
Erie is now 53-31, 2 games up in the Southern Division.
