Trenton Drops Another One, 5-4
|
The Richmond Flying Squirrels did just enough to sneak past the Trenton Thunder, 5-4, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Richmond pitcher Dave García, in particular, had a standout performance. García got the win, improving to 11-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 4 runs. Aurelio Soriano got the save, his 1st in 2 chances.
Anastasio Sánchez, who is tied for 8th in the EL in bases on balls with 51, chipped in a solo home run for Richmond in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Trenton manager Cody Decker.
The Thunder, now 53-50, have lost 6 in a row.
