The New Britain Rock Cats faced a tough opponent in Binghamton pitcher Rudy Alexander, but did just enough to pull out the victory at NYSEG Stadium by a final score of 6-4. Alexander went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. The win went to Bob Walters in relief, making him now 4-4. Walt Wallis took the loss for Binghamton. With the win, the Rock Cats sit at 60-48.

New Britain used the timely hitting of Kevin Jackson to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rock Cats on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Jackson.
