Getting a good performance from center fielder Steve Weeks, the Reading Fightin Phils defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 7-2. Weeks went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Fightin Phils. Tony Martínez nailed down his 17th save. Reading has now won 4 straight.

With Reading leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Weeks hit a cutter from Doug Bratcher for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Fightin Phils ahead, 4-0.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Weeks told the Reading Herald. "It's as simple as that."
