|
The Binghamton Mets had to overcome a fine effort from Reading pitcher Kevin Rodgers to win, 4-3, in 13 innings at FirstEnergy Stadium. Rodgers went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner in relief was Ron Moloney. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. Reading has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Mike Sperring, who is tied for 6th in the EL in home runs with 10, had a direct impact on the outcome. Sperring contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put Binghamton up, 4-3.
Sperring said his team "played with determination."
