Mathis, Baysox Rumble to 14-4 Win
The umbrellas came out during the Bowie-Richmond contest at Prince George's Stadium.

The Bowie Baysox beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 14-4, at Prince George's Stadium. The Baysox got a fine performance from right fielder Gil Mathis, who hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 7. Jesús Pérez went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the EL with a 8.5 K/9 rate, struck out 4 and walked 7. With the win, he's now 6-7 this season.

With Bowie trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Mathis hit a forkball from Ethan Walton for a 2-run double. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Baysox ahead, 2-1.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Mathis told the Bowie Citizen.

The win puts Bowie at 59-58 this season.
