Fierro K's 11 En Route to 2-1 RubberDucks Win
|
The Akron RubberDucks banked on José Fierro and he turned in a masterful performance. The left-hander kept the Portland hitters in check. The final score was 2-1, RubberDucks. Picking up the save was Chad Cochrane, his 28th. The RubberDucks bumped their record to 72-46 with this win.
Fierro earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Akron. The native of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 11. Portland hitters did next to nothing against the left-hander.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Fierro. "Successful pitchers do it."
