Baysox Roll Over Flying Squirrels, 13-3
|
The Bowie Baysox cruised to a win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 13-3, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Ron Doyle led the way, going 2-for-5 for Bowie. Jesús García, the winner, is now 6-9. He struck out 7 and walked 2 over 7 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. The Baysox sport a record of 49-75.
Doyle contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Bowie in the top of the second. With his team trailing 3-2, Doyle took a curveball from Ernesto Varela and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Baysox to leap in front, 6-3.
"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Bowie manager Jack McDowell.
