Sea Dogs Win in Extras, 3-1
|
Fans who congregated at NYSEG Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.
Portland pitcher Jon Bascombe did his part in helping his team defeat the Binghamton Mets, 3-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Portland reliever Mike Lane snagged the win, upping his record to 2-3. Ron Moloney shouldered the loss.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Tommy Robinson? The 22-year old first baseman Robinson stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Portland up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Portland manager Stu Cole.
After today's action, Portland sits at 64-63, while Binghamton falls to 62-65.
